“Don’t Go Light on the Salt” by Bill L.
“The world is full of people looking for love……from people looking for love”. This is a quote that a Christian friend of mine said many years ago. The purpose of the statement is intended to make Christians examine themselves to see if they have what it takes when they take on the world. Think about it. A non-believer comes into your life, and they are searching for a solution to the empty pit in their soul. What if you’re not prepared, what do you have to offer them? Jesus Himself put it to you when He said, “You are the salt of the earth. But if that salt has lost its’ taste, with what will it be made salty again?” (Matt 5:13). So, when that searching person comes into your life and asks you about the solution to their problems, what are you going say to them, “I don’t know”? If that is your story, then beware of the rest of Matt 5:13, “It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under the feet of men”.
As Christians, we have a responsibility to the unsaved to have the answer….it is Jesus. However, if we can’t show them a living testimony of the love from God’s heart, then what do we have? A weekly church club with once-a-month socials? Sorry, I don’t think that is going to cut it for them. The only way that we can be that salt is by allowing God to change us. When you confessed your sins, and became born-again, you became a new creature…or did you? Are you still hanging with the same group of people that got into all that trouble? Are you still going out and having a few pops with the guys? Are you still trying to pick up that new girl in the office (hoping your wife doesn’t find out)? Are you still swearing and fighting with your kids, your spouse or your family? Are you still cheating on your taxes, speeding and using your cellphone and/or texting while driving? What kind of life are you living right now, exactly? C’mon, it’s just you and God right now, so let’s be honest. Is your life measuring up to the standard that Jesus set out in the Bible? I’ll never know, but you will. So will everyone else around you.
Something happens to us when we become Christians; people start watching us. Why? It’s because they are hoping in their soul that you have found the answer. When Jesus comes into your heart, He changes you from the inside. Then His reflection shines out in us, and it’s electric! People can’t help but see it, and then they want it. However, if you go back into the pile of dung that Jesus just pulled you out of, well they’ll see that too. They will ask themselves why you went back into the mess if Jesus truly changed you. It’s a weighty responsibility being a Christian, but it’s what you signed up for. Did you think that you weren’t going to be noticed? In the same passage in Matthew, Jesus said, “You don’t light a lamp and then put it under a bowl.” (Matt 5:15) That would be ridiculous! So would being a Christian and expecting to not be noticed! You’re supposed to be seen. That’s why Jesus said, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in Heaven” (Matt 5:16).
Jesus wants us to be noticed! He wants people to say that there is something different about you now, that’s the whole point! Then when they come asking what has happened to you, you’re supposed to share the wealth! You can’t fake it, either. Where I work, that’s what is called “fronting it”, and it’s obvious. You can’t be something that you’re not. People aren’t stupid. If you try to manufacture a quasi-Christian lifestyle that doesn’t include the Holy Spirit or true repentance of your sins, it will be transparent to everyone and your witness will be beyond weak. If you were sincere with God about believing in His son Jesus and actually meant what you said when you asked him to change you, then everyone around you better duck because they are going to be blown away! You are going to be walking around just oozing Jesus all over the place! That is the way it was meant to be. When Jesus walked the earth, He had crowds of people following behind him because they all knew that He had the goods. When Peter and Paul went all over the known world spreading the good news, throngs of people followed behind them for the same reason.
So let me ask the question, how big is your crowd of followers? Do people see Jesus in you? Are they convicted when you walk into the room because they know that you have the Holy Spirit inside your heart? Or is it status quo? Has nothing about you changed? How salty is your salt?

“For a righteous man may fall seven times And rise again, But the wicked shall fall by calamity.”
– Proverbs 24:16
Today I was thinking about this proverb. This one verse of Scripture is what kept me from losing my sanity as I began the process of sanctification (which still goes on today) after I had gotten saved. I knew God required me to walk in holiness and put off the unclean things that I had been accustomed to before knowing Christ. At times I felt like such a failure falling into the same traps the enemy laid for me. I wondered how God could forgive me? How could I be considered the “righteousness of God” and be stuck in the same sins I had been in before knowing Christ.
Then I had a revelation. Being righteous doesn’t mean that you don’t fall at times. It means that when you DO fall, you get back up again. Christ’s sacrifice on the cross is what ultimately makes you the “righteousness of God”. What separates you from the unrighteous is that they fall and stay down. WE get back up again.
Be encouraged to get back up if maybe you have fallen this week. Christ has paid the fine for that sin. Don’t lay down in guilt, shame, and condemnation. Push through, keep your eyes on your Redeemer, and renew your mind daily and transformation will come.
My dad works at the womens prison in Niantic, so when me and my sister were little we always kinda joked about how we never wanted to see at daddy at work cuz that would mean we are in prison. I always knew I wasnt going to do anything that would that get me arrested so I know I wont end yup in…
I’m a huge Star Trek fan. Okay, I’m a Trekkie if you have to know. My favorite of all the Star Trek movies is #2: “The Wrath of Khan”. If you don’t know the story, it basically is a story of revenge. This guy named Khan has been plotting his revenge against Capt. Kirk for 15 years. He blames Kirk…
I love how… (Rosharon Musser)
I love how…..
- being in the presence of God gives me a feeling in the pit of my stomach more powerful than anything else ever has.
- I feel when I pray for someone and I can feel such peace from God’s spirit.
- I can pray in faith and see God answer my prayers.
- I feel when I am living a spirit-filled life.
- I can’t possibly describe how amazing, and marvelous God is. I am undone <3
